Tips to stick to your schedule

Recently, that is for a few weeks now, I have rarely found the time to do anything that is not directly work related. I am not complaining. It only makes me realize that to stick to my own routines, values and things I believe in ( for example blogging for you) I should always be resolute.

And I have been as resolute as I can. Fortunately, I have found a few tricks to keeping me on point with my agenda. Here are a few tips I would suggest to keep you on your toes and your schedule

1. Never miss:

Never miss an activity even just once. Missing it once would turn into missing it once a while. Before you know it, once a while turns into missing it occasionally. I am culprit number 1 on this flaw.

There might be so many excuses I might give. For example I might say the lights are off, I feel tired , I feel sleepy, or I don’t feel like it. Check it out this youtube video and you should feel ashamed for ever feeling that way.

2. Look forward to the feeling of being fulfilled:

I am happiest on those days I am able to complete 100% of all activities I planned to do. On those I hit 50% and less, I feel horrible. I remember one term in secondary school when everything went like clock work. I knew where I was supposed to be and what I had to do. In retrospect, that was by far the best terms academically in secondary school. If for nothing else, the gladness and good feel from accomplishing all I set out to do was definitely worth it.

3. Set alerts:

You may honestly forget. If that is the case, set reminders. I use lot of reminders. Primarily with Any.do, and my Google calendar. I hope I am able to reach that stage where I don’t need alerts.

4. Use your energies wisely:

There are lots of things you can do in a day. Do that which makes the most sense to you, and makes you happy. I love this quote , from the movie Lone Survivor

“Anything thing you love doing is worth doing more, moderation is for cowards”.

Spend your time at the right time and place and with the right people. life is short. You don’t have a lot of energy to waste.

5. Don’t give up:

When you miss an activity( and there will be many of those times) , don’t give up. There is a popular quote that says

Remember that guy that gave up? Neither does no one else.”

With every time you fail, you know another wrong way of doing something, and you learn from that. With time and enough effort, what was once difficult for you, would become effortless.

Ah, I already feel fulfilled for sticking to my schedule, and writing this blog post. Well, that was what was on my mind and heart, and I feel privileged to have been able to share it with you.

We will talk again soon. Until then, take care and best regards.
