Hi y’all,
It is my goal by the end of this post to make you an advocate for better project management techniques using tools like Trello.
What is the problem here?
It is difficult to keep track of what everyone in a project is up to. These include their tasks and the sub activities that make up these tasks.
The solution:
Trello
What is Trello?
In my own words, I would describe Trello as a bulletin board for all the tasks that have to be accomplished on a project, which are organized visually into columns.
It makes sense logically. You can move cards in a systematic fashion from one activity to another. For example, on creating your account you are presented with the following three major cards: To do, Doing, and Done
The value prop:
See at a glance all the tasks of your team. You neither get to see too much nor too little information. You get to see just what you need
What is the purpose of Trello:
You can virtually use it for any activity into which you would like to see more productivitiy and structure. For instance, you can use it to plan your
- project
- software development
- new year resolutions
- auditions
- parties
- content curation
- personal To do list
- catalog stuff
- ….. the list is endless
How it works:
The tasks are arranged in arranged in cards, and the sub activities that make up these tasks.
The features:
1. Quicky assign members to the project, tasks or the sub tasks
2. Easily embed video, pictures, PDF and other media onto your card
3. View all the activities of your project team
4. Drag and drop cards from one board to another
5. It has mobile and web clients that instantly synchronize across all devices, and browsers for all members on the project
6. You can set due dates
Best practices:
1. Have a Scrum master in charge of the Project on Trello.
Who is the Scrum master : He is the time conscious member of the group who manages project deadlines and tasks.
2. Have an icebox: These are additional things you might want to do, but might have to put on hold because of your current schedule.
3. Have one project per board
4. Add subtasks to your card. No one task is merely consists of a single activitiy. Thus, list the sub activites that go into this one card, for it is 99.9% likely that that one card is made up of seeral sub activities. On checking the subitems it shows a kind of progress bar to let you know how far you have to go
And the best part is that its free to use , its intuitive and its available today! Signup here for a Trello account.

The popular other project management tools are Asana and Pivotal tracker
To end the whole philosophy of Trello is to do 1 thing and do it well. This is a recommended philosophy for you to go by.
I hope this post was beneficial. Let me know what you think of the subject.
Cheers!
