Hello y’all. Hope you are good. Would like to blog about something that almost stopped me from writing this post. Procrastination.
Usually the most difficult obstacle in having a productivity compliant lifestyle is procrastination. Thus, I would like this post to focus on a few tips to overcoming this vice.
1. Make a decision: This should be intentional. At this point you would have realized the need to change. There may be a variety of reasons for why you need to make this change. Maybe you want to become more efficient at work or you have to meet a deadline. What ever your reason, you are taking a step in the right direction.
2. Never allow an exception: I have fallen foul of this rule myself. A very common scenario with us all is our wake up time. You might prefer to wake up at 5 am. Yet when that alarm rings, you decide to ignore it. There may be valid reasons for ignoring it. A very common one is that you stayed up late. If this happens too often, then maybe you have to enforce your bedtime much stronger and to respect that. In other areas in life where you want improved, never allow that exception.
3. Be disciplined: Ninjas are really one determined bunch. There is fellow Izzy, whose has as one of his themes being disciplined. There are so many temptations and distractions in our daily life. Take inspiration from point one ( that is why you have to become productive). This will help you with being disciplined. For example, you have to be disciplined with you bedtime, else you will wake up late.
4. Persist: When you fail in your plan, resolve to persist. From time to time, you will fail in your efforts( hopefully these will be very few) . When those times come, press on ( As it says from the song by Selah ).
5. Reward yourself: Hurray, you persisted. You fell and and got up again to try another day. Give yourself a reward for persisting in your new habits or agenda. You could give yourself a small treat. At least with that you have something to look forward when you are struggling with your goals, and at best you will always have rewards for a good job done.
6. Be patient: Be patient with yourself. Rome was not built in a day. Neither is it expected that you become a time conscious or punctuality ninja. Be patient with yourself and do not beat yourself too bad when you fail more times than you expect.
7. Iterate: From time to time, reflect. Reflect on reasons why you might not be succeeding and when you do succeed look at those reasons why you are succeeding. Continue with the good techniques, and cancel out the bad ones.
